This Mississippi Congressional map attempts to minimize the number of political subdivisions split. Mississippi has 82 counties and 1,834 voting districts. This plan splits only 2 counties (Jones & Montgomery) and 2 voting districts. In addition, this map preserves the Black-majority district as required by Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act in order to allow the Black population to elect their preferred candidate. Democrats would likely hold one seat while Republicans would hold three seats.
