This is a good government plan that primarily aims to preserve county lines and other political subdivisions. The planned districts are reasonably compact, have perfect population equality, and leave only six counties divided. Additionally, the map complies with federal and state redistricting laws. Iowa state law requires state House and state Senate districts to be contained within congressional districts, where possible. This map has been updated to fulfill this requirement in regard to the state legislative maps signed into law on 11/04/21, although doing so has resulted in a map that more heavily favors Republicans compared to Good Government Plan uploaded on 10/17/21. A congressional map was also signed into law on 11/04/21.
