Redistricting Plan

Maine Good Governance, Compactness Map (Foster)

Picture of the districting plan
Author: Dakota Foster
Redistricting Principle(s) Prioritized: Communities of Interest and Good Government
Date: Oct 1, 2021
This map adheres to Constitutional and statutory requirements while preserving communities of interest and achieving compact districts. This map splits one county, Androscoggin, and only splits two small towns statewide, minimizing political subdivision splits. By drawing compact districts with minimal splits, this map ensures that fewer than 700 Mainers will vote in a different district than the rest of their town. Maine's traditional partisan division between the more liberal southwest and the more conservative inland north persists in this map, and these districts reflect those partisan divisions.
