Redistricting Plan

Idaho Compact Good Gov. (Foster)

Picture of the districting plan
Author: Dakota Foster
Redistricting Principle(s) Prioritized: Communities of Interest and Good Government
Date: Oct 23, 2021
This plan complies with Constitutional and Idaho statutory requirements while creating compact districts that minimize political splits. The proposed map only splits one county, adhering to Idaho state law which requires every effort to minimize county splits. Idaho has previously had two Republican-leaning districts, and this map will maintain that political orientation. Unlike the state's 2010 redistricting map, however, this map does not split the populous Ada County (Boise's split has been traditionally contentious).
